Deputy Chief of Mission/Counsellor at the Embassy of Japan in Brunei Darussalam Abe Hiroshi hosted a send-off ceremony for Vincent Yap Kah Jiun at a Japanese restaurant in Bandar Seri Begawan yesterday.

Vincent Yap Kah Jiun will attend Waseda University as a research student under a Japanese government scholarship for two years.

Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) offers scholarships to international students to study graduate-level courses at Japanese universities as research students under the Japanese Government MEXT Scholarship Programme.

It aims to foster individuals, through studies in Japan, to become bridges of friendship between the grantee’s country and Japan, and contribute to the development of both countries and the world.
