In the news: Students awarded for Japanese proficiency

Seri Mulia Sarjana School (SMSS) won first place while Ma’had Islam Brunei and Hassanal Bolkiah Boy’s Arabic Secondary School (SMALHB) came in second and third in the 33rd Japanese Speech Group Presentation Contest, organised by Lifelong Learning Centre (L3C) and the Language Centre of Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), Department of Co-Curriculum Education at the Ministry of Education, the Japan Foundation, Japanese Association Brunei Darussalam, Brunei Association of Japan Alumni and the Embassy of Japan in Brunei Darussalam.

Japanese Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Eiji Yamamoto, Director of the Language Centre, UBD Dr Yabit Alas, Deputy Director of L3C Walter Chong, President of the Japanese Association Hatanaka, BAJA’s Dr Liling, and Acting Assistant Director of Co-Curriculum Education Hajah Hajidah binti Haji Abdul Wahab were present.

The contest was aimed at encouraging contestants to demonstrate their proficiency in the Japanese Language.

It also served as an opportunity to deepen mutual understanding and foster a greater friendship between the people of Japan and Brunei Darussalam. Winners received certificate, trophy and gift from the Japanese Association in Brunei Darussalam.
