Deputy Chief of Mission/Counsellor at the Embassy of Japan in Brunei Darussalam Abe Hiroshi hosted a send-off ceremony for Abdul Azim bin Muhammad Zulhilmi and Chung Ming Hui at a Japanese restaurant in Bandar Seri Begawan yesterday.

The two Bruneians will be going to Japan as research students on a Japanese government scholarship at Japanese universities for two to three years.

Abdul Azim will attend Hokkaido University while Chung Ming Hui will be at University of Tsukuba.

Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) offers scholarships to international students to study graduate-level courses at Japanese universities as research students under the Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship Programme.

It aims to foster individuals, through studies in Japan, to become bridges of friendship between the grantee’s country and Japan, and contribute to the development of both countries and the world.
